Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the SSC MTS exam every year for 10th pass candidates and a huge number of candidates apply for this exam. Multitasking Staff Recruitment is held for filling Group C posts such as Peon, Mali, Chowkidar, Safaiwala, etc. in various Ministries and Departments. Candidates recruited as multi-tasking staff by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) fall in Pay Level- 1 as per Pay Matrix of 7th Pay Commission. SSC MTS Exam Pattern 2021
The examination will consist of a Computer Based Examination (Paper-I) and a Descriptive Paper (Paper-II). Go through the SSC Exam Pattern given below:-
A. Paper-I (Computer Based Examination)
Paper-I will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part II, III & IV.

There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
B. Paper-II (Descriptive)
Paper-II will be held only for those candidates who meet the cut-off prescribed by the Commission in Paper-I for different categories. Paper-II will be of the descriptive type in ‘Pen and Paper’ Mode in which the candidates will be required to write a short essay or letter.

Paper-II will only be of qualifying nature and is intended to test elementary language skills in view of the categorization of the post as Group-C and in view of job requirements. However, marks scored by the candidates in Paper-II will be used to decide merit in case more than one candidate score equal normalized marks in Paper-I.
C. PET/ PST
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST) for the post of Havaldar in CBIC and CBN: Followings are the PET/ PST standards for the post of Havaldar in CBIC and CBN:

Cycling is not applicable for the post of Havaldar in DGPM, CBIC.
A women candidate, who as a result of tests is found to be pregnant of 12 weeks standing or over, shall be declared temporarily unfit and her candidature will be held in abeyance until the confinement is over.

PET/ PST will be conducted by CBIC / CBN at various centres finalized by them. The candidates may be called for PET/ PST to any centre across the country.
D. Document Verification (DV)
All the candidates qualified for Document Verification are required to appear for Document Verification along with the photocopies and original documents.
For the post of MTS, based on the performance in Paper-I and scoring the cut-off marks in Paper-II, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in the Document Verification.
For the post of Havaldar, based on the performance in Paper-I, qualifying in PET/ PST and scoring the cut-off marks in Paper-II, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in the Document Verification

To apply for the SSC Multi-Tasking Staff Exam, candidates must have passed the Matriculation Examination or equivalent from a recognized Board.

Computer-Based Examination (Paper-I) – It is mandatory for the candidates to know about the SSC Exam Syllabus in order to prepare efficiently for the MTS Exam. Paper-II: The Paper will be set in Hindi, English, and other languages mentioned in the Schedule-VIII of the Constitution as given below in the table, to test basic language skills commensurate with the 16 educational qualifications prescribed for the post. Candidates will be required to write one short essay/ letter.
